Organix has been successfully managing compost operations on multiple dairies in the Northwest for over a decade. Our clients demand efficiency and performance. Sometimes we are making a finished product called Power Plant for retail sales, others are making bedding material, and some operations even compost all the mortalities.
Dealing with manures on any CAFO is a sensitive issue. No matter what the demand, the Frontier has always performed. One 12′ tow-behind has been operating 12 – 16 hours a day every day on multiple sites for over a year. Other than routine maintenance, it has performed flawlessly. We have just ordered a second one to help handle the growing demand for our service in that same region. Rugged is an understatement for the Frontier windrow turner. These machines have become a vital part of our entire operation.
We offer a product that sells for over $190.00 cu yds. We take great pride and meticulous care of our material. If it weren’t for the Mighty Mike’s unequaled ability to mix and aerate our material this level of quality would be impossible. It is the core of our business. We have two of these turners and their trouble-free operation is a huge benefit. We do not have to fix it before we can use it. It is by far the best turner I’ve ever seen.
Results of trials with other equipment encouraged us to use the new Frontier straddle-type windrow turner which had a dramatic effect on our process. …the mechanical mixing prevented clods from forming. The process time to compost the material also dropped from almost seven months down to 45 – 60 days.
Careful mixing of different kinds of material before building a windrow is no longer necessary; we merely layer the materials and run the Frontier windrow turner through the windrow. The paddle design not only optimizes aeration, but it assures thorough mixing. Thorough mixing is also a help in re-establishing families of microbes which may be destroyed by the high temperatures in the centers of the windrow.
I just wanted to let you know that I got the O&M manual today. I also wanted to let you know that your turner is one serious piece of equipment. It has completely changed how we operate. We have had to change or modify about 75% of the process, simply because we are putting more product on the ground, and because of the dramatically increased efficiency of the turner. One of the best purchases we ever made. Thanks for all your help.
